Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer

I don’t use hp smart or my printer that often, although I’ve had them for a few years now.
 But this morning  I printed off some documents, 20pages from my iphone using hp smart. 
This evening, I was checking battery usage on my phone as it had used alot more than normal.  I found that 51% battery was used today in the background by Hp Smart. 
Is this normal? It has never happened before and none of my settings have changed. I had also swiped closed hp smart app this morning after i had  finished printing. 

I have disabled background refresh now.
