HP Deskjet 1050A
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hello,

I have been trying to set up my HP Deskjet 1050A printer with my MacBook Air that I updated with the OS Big Sur. I have the USB and tried all my other USB to set it up with it but it says the printer cannot be found. I have searched everywhere on where to install it and hopefully someone here can help me since I really need it to print my son's worksheets. Thank you very much to whoever can help me. Keep safe!

Welcome to the HP Support community.

I understand that you are unable to connect your printer to your Mac using USB, follow these steps to fix the issue.

  1. If you already connected the printer USB cable to your computer, disconnect it, and then remove the printer from your computer.

Click the Apple icon , click System Preferences, and then click Printers & Scanners, Print and Scan, or Print and Fax. Select the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then restart the computer.

  2. Make sure an open USB port is available on your computer. Do not connect the printer to a USB hub or docking station as the printer might not receive enough power to operate properly.

  3. Go to HP Smart - Mac App Store and install the HP Smart app.

  4. Open the app, and then follow the guided installation to complete the setup. If the setup does not begin automatically, click the Plus sign to add your printer.

Refer to this HP document for more assistance.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
