Hello

I was getting the Local Permissions error. 

Sounded very similar to what is posted here but none of the solutions worked for me:

Finally I uninstalled the HP app

and ran HP Easy Start located on the Driver section of the HP website. 

This seems to work and offers all the same access

(with scanning now separate in HP Easy Scan)

Is this the correct update for a Mac user. 

No more HP smart app. The big difference was the interface was prettier.

May I ask what model of printer you have?
How are printers and computers connected?
Can I detect/add a printer if I install HP Smart?
Please provide a specific explanation of the problem encountered in order to assist you. Thank you.

Hello I have a HP Office Jet 5740. The HP app worked fine for years. Now I had to download "HP Easy Scan" and "HP Utility" to access my printer from the Desktop. I can still print from any program and I can still use the HP app from my phone, but on desktop I can not bypass the Local Network error. 

- HP Office Jet 5740

- they are both sharing WiFi
