I've tried the suggested trashing of the application in the apps fold, can't find one in the library folder, application support.  Tried downloading the app again from the App Store and it starts to open, but then disappears.

If you downloaded it from the Mac app store originally as well, you can reset it back to zero by deleting:

/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.hp.SmartMac

The easiest way to get to /Users/username/Library/ is to hold down the <option> key and select the Go menu in the Finder.  With the <option> key held Library will show in the Go menu.  Then go to Containers.  Find com.hp.SmartMac and delete the entire folder.

Then relaunch the app from the Applications folder and go through setup again.

While I may work for HP Inc, the views and opinions expressed here are my own.

I should reframe the question, I find the library folder, but the HP app isn't there to be sent to trash.   I've gone through this process multiple times and still can no use the app.

Deleting the containers files worked.. thanks you!
