After a crash due to WIndows11 download I have re-installed most software.   HP Smart will not download from the MS store.  I get a "getting ready" message.  Nothing moves beyond that.

Hi @Sagid2001

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're having a frustrating time with HP Smart stalling during installation from the Microsoft Store.

Let’s troubleshoot and get it working for you:

1. Check Windows 11 Updates

Ensure your system is fully updated:

Go to Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates.

Restart your system after applying updates to resolve any compatibility issues.

2. Clear Microsoft Store Cache

Open the Run dialog by pressing Win + R and type wsreset.exe, then hit Enter.

This will clear the Microsoft Store cache and reset it, which often resolves download issues.

3. Restart Microsoft Store Services

Open Services:

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

Locate Windows Update and Microsoft Store Install Service in the list.

Right-click on each, select Restart, then try downloading HP Smart again.

4. Manually Install HP Smart

Visit HP’s support page for the OfficeJet Pro 8710 (HP Official Website) and check if there’s a direct download for HP Smart or an alternative setup utility.

Install the software manually outside of the Microsoft Store.

5. Check Storage and Permissions

Ensure there’s enough disk space on your computer for the installation.

Verify permissions for the Store:

Open Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.

Find Microsoft Store, click Advanced Options, and under "Reset," select Repair (or Reset, if necessary).

6. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems.

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor from the link below to quickly and automatically perform several troubleshooting tasks known to resolve this issue.

When this link is clicked, HP Print and Scan Doctor is downloaded using your Internet browser's download capabilities.

7. Try a Different User Account

If the problem persists, try logging into a different Microsoft account or creating a new user profile on your PC to see if the installation progresses.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
