Hi Alan, the HP Smart upgrade from 17.25.1 to 17.30.1 on 26/10/24 addressed the problems I was having, and my printer now works fine with MacOS Sequoia. Sorry to hear you are still having problems, but both your MacBook and printer are much older than mine. It sounds as though both are close to the point where they will need to be replaced because they are too old to be compatible with the latest firmware or software upgrades. Once this happens your printer may become incompatible with latest level computer operating sytems, and your MacBook will become vulnerable to malware as you will be unable to apply the latest security updates. Like you, I am unhappy about not being able to use 3rd party ink on my printer if I want to, now it is out of warranty. That should be my choice. I have also had frequent problems with HP Smart, starting with bad installation instructions which put the printer into a state HP Support could not fix, and culminated in my brand new printer having to be replaced. Unless things change, I am likely to look elsewhere for my next printer.
