HP Smart has no diagnostic feature, like HP Print Scan Doctor had.

my hp printer has a sporadic problem.  when i try to print, i often get a message that the printer is offline when it is clearly on.

restarting the printer sometimes solves the problem, but not always.  sometimes after i get the 'printer offline' message, the printer will print, sometime later.  

the hp print scan doctor had a diagnosis function that seemed to help.  hp smart has no equivalent function.

what are my options?

HP Smart does include its own diagnostics / fix feature -- the tool is similar to the old Print and Scan Doctor.

Open HP Smart > Click on the 'wrench" icon in the lower left corner of the menu.

Find and resolve the underlying problem that is causing the issue you are experiencing.

Offline Condition

Although the printer appears to be switched on, it does not communicate with other devices on your network.

What you do to correct the issue depends on the underlying cause.

Consider >> Restart All

Restart Everything, including the router that controls your network

Next,
