Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

I just bought a new HP Smart Tank 670 Printer, and was trying to set up the printer (I use an iMac and iPhone). I followed the instructions on the HP website and downloaded the HP Smart on Apple App Store on my iMac. But the HP Smart App keeps crashing every time I open it, I can't even get onto the first page / screen of the app.  It just freezes every time, and I have to force quit it. 
I then tried to use the HP Smart on my iPhone.  Small progress compared to the desktop App. I was able to get onto step 3 or 4 or so, and then the app froze on the page of "Getting Information" after connecting to the printer to my wifi network.
Please advise!
