Dear experts
I have found the darkness setting in HPSmart -> Advanced settings -> Copy then lighter/darker.
This works when I am using the printer as a photocopier but does not seem to work when I print from my laptop.
Please can you suggest another place where I can change the setting
Thanks in advance
Paul

Hi @paulcairncross,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We're glad to hear you've successfully adjusted the copy darkness through the HP Smart app. To help you achieve similar results when printing from your laptop, we'll walk you through additional settings.
🖨️ Print Darkness for Documents (from Windows 11)
While the Lighter/Darker option affects copies, printed documents use print driver settings instead. Here's how you can adjust the darkness when printing from your laptop:
Option 1: Change Print Quality
- Open the document you wish to print.
- Go to File > Print, then select your HP Smart Tank 7306 series printer.
- Click on Printer Properties, Preferences, or More Settings (the wording may vary).
- Under the Paper/Quality or Advanced tab:
- Set Print Quality to Best or Draft (draft will print faster and lighter).
- For darker output, ensure it's not in Draft mode.
- Click OK and then Print.
Option 2: Adjust from HP Smart App (for printing, not copying)
Unfortunately, the "Lighter/Darker" slider is only available for copy settings, not printing. However, when printing PDFs or photos from the HP Smart app:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Choose Print Documents or Print Photos.
- Before printing, select Settings (gear icon).
- Choose a higher print quality setting (e.g., "Best").
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
