I'm trying to set up HP Smart app on my computer. I get stuck when it asks me to log into my account. I get the following error message:

MaineGuy63_0-1737923098915.png

I can't get past this screen. I've tried everything. Deleting and reinstalling the app. Deleting my printer and reinstalling it. Turning off and restarting the printer. Nothing works. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi @MaineGuy63,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the HP Smart app where it fails to proceed past the login screen. Here's a systematic troubleshooting guide to resolve this:

Steps to Fix HP Smart App Login Issues

1. Check Your Internet Connection

  • Ensure your computer is connected to a stable internet connection.
  • Test the internet speed to rule out connectivity issues.

2. Clear Cache and App Data

  • For Windows:
    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type %appdata% and press Enter.
    • Locate the HP Inc. or HP Smart folder and delete it.
    • Go back and check %localappdata% and delete any relevant HP Smart data.
  • For macOS:
    • Go to ~/Library/Caches/ and delete any HP Smart-related files.

3. Update HP Smart App

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app:
    • Visit the HP Smart download page and download the latest version for your OS.

4. Flush DNS and Reset Network Settings

  • Open Command Prompt (Windows) as Administrator and run the following commands:
  • Restart your computer.

5. Temporarily Disable Antivirus or Firewall

  • Your security software might be blocking HP Smart:
    • Disable your antivirus and firewall temporarily.
    • Attempt to log in to the HP Smart app again.

6. Use a Web Browser to Log In

  • Open a web browser and log in to your HP account directly at HP Smart website.
  • Once logged in, retry the app.

7. Test in a Different User Account

  • Create a new user account on your computer and try running HP Smart there.

8. Check for Windows Updates

  • Update Windows to ensure all components required for HP Smart are up-to-date:
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

9. Reinstall Microsoft Store Dependencies

  • If using the Microsoft Store version of HP Smart, reset the Store:
    • Open PowerShell as Administrator and run:
  • Then reinstall HP Smart.

10. Enable Logs for Diagnostics

  • For advanced users:
    • Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to identify the issue.
    • Enable logs for the app for further diagnostics.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day
