Hi @MrTix

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

If you're having trouble with HP Smart not finishing the setup process for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer, it could be due to several reasons, such as network issues, software problems, or incomplete setup configurations. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue and complete the setup:

1. Ensure Stable Network Connection

HP Smart requires a stable internet connection to complete the setup and connect your printer to the network.

  • Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your computer or mobile device is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
  • Printer Connection: Verify that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or smartphone. You can check the printer's Wi-Fi status on the printer's screen by navigating to the Network Setup or Wireless Settings.

If your printer is not connected to Wi-Fi, you'll need to connect it:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi password.

2. Restart HP Smart and Printer

Sometimes, simply restarting the application and printer can fix the issue.

  • Close HP Smart completely on your computer or mobile device.
  • Turn off your printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Reopen HP Smart and try setting up the printer again.

3. Update HP Smart

Make sure that you’re using the latest version of the HP Smart app.

  • For Windows:
    1. Open the Microsoft Store on your computer.
    2. Go to Downloads and Updates and check for updates.
    3. If there’s an update for HP Smart, install it.
  • For macOS:
    1. Open the Mac App Store.
    2. Go to the Updates tab and check for updates.
    3. If there’s an update for HP Smart, install it.

After updating, try running the setup again.

4. Check for Printer Firmware Updates

Outdated firmware on the printer can sometimes cause issues with the setup process.

  • You can check for a firmware update by going to HP Support and searching for the latest firmware for the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e.
  • If your printer is connected to Wi-Fi, you may also be able to check and update the firmware through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

5. Reinstall HP Smart

If the setup process is still not completing, you may need to reinstall the HP Smart app. This can fix any corrupted installation files or settings.

For Windows:

  1. Uninstall HP Smart:
    • Open Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.
    • Find HP Smart in the list and select Uninstall.
  2. Reinstall HP Smart:

  2. Reinstall HP Smart:

  3. Once installed, launch HP Smart and try to set up the printer.

6. Use a USB Connection to Complete Setup

If the Wi-Fi setup is giving you trouble, you can use a USB connection to complete the setup and then switch to wireless printing.

  1. Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. Open HP Smart and try to complete the setup process via USB.
  3. After the setup is complete, you can disconnect the USB cable and switch to Wi-Fi printing.

7. Manually Add Printer in HP Smart

If the setup process stalls, you can try manually adding the printer in the HP Smart app:

  1. Open HP Smart.
  2. Click the "+" or Add Printer button.
  3. If the printer is connected to Wi-Fi, it should automatically detect the printer. If not, follow the on-screen instructions to add it manually.
