Hi, I have the same FI screen problem with my PSC 1410.
I installed both HP Scan and Capture (which works, but has much less functionality)
and HP Scan Extended, which comes up and scans, but shows an empty result, how come? Also you cannot enlarge it's window.
Please help!
BTW I did first de-install all HP software, then re-installed it by downloading and executing "AIO_CDB_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe"
Regards, Paul

Thanks for posting the free solutions. That will get me partially back in business. The 24-bit RGB limit for color photos is a deal-breaker for me, though. Hamrick's VueScan "Try Before You Buy" worked for my Photosmart 309a and reproduced the details I was missing. I could also turn off the "over-brightening" that has always annoyed me with HP's software. Unfortunately, the cost is a little more than I was hoping for and might be better applied to a new scanner with updated software. I would love to hear of other potential solutions that offer more adjustments.
Updated: This is strictly for photos, not routine document scaning, but I just kicked off the HP Scanning Software using irfanview (an open source photo editing software), so the Adobe Flash problem must only be with the initial couple of pages. It's a little wacky, but it's free and familiar. For irfanview users, the steps are:
- First, go to File > Select scan/TWAIN source.
- Choose the device from the list. Click Select. ...
- Then, go to File >Acquire/Batch scanning (or press Ctrl+Shift+A).
- In the dialog box, click OK.
- A window of your scanner manufacturer's software will appear. ...
Cheers!

Let's see if we have this right HP has known about flash player being removed for over a year. They know that the solution center depends on flash and have done nothing. Three, all that is offered is some work around solutions with old apps that don't seem to work.
My solution: recycling my C410 and NEVER, EVER buying another HP product again. Further making sure all my influencer connections know about this as well.

The real solution is irfanview (see irfanview.nl). I used the 32-bit version.
Select the Scan/TWAIN source (in my case Hp psc 1400 series TWAIN 1.0 (32-32)
Choose Acquire/Batch scanning, and after selecting one of them I get the original scan interface!
