Hi there,

I’m having problems with the HP Solutions Center.

The HP Solutions Center starts, shows the status of the printer and goes out after a few seconds. The Print and Scan Dr tool detects an error at the Solutions Center SW and tells me to get an update. When clicking the Get Update button at the Doctor’s screen my browser (Crome) tries to go to "http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-81532-2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&..." and gets the following response:

Service Unavailable - DNS failure

The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later.

The Solutions Central problem started after a system rebuilt I had to do a few months ago. I have tried everything I could imagine and nothing happened so far. The C4780 printer works well here, just the Solution Center has a problem. Both printer and Solutions Center work perfectly on my other two Windows 7 (32bits) Laptops.

I will appreciate any help.

Thanks a lot,

@EdwinMurray,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Let's try to uninstall the printer drivers from the root level and then reinstall them by following the below steps:

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and OK - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here to download and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Hi Jeet, unfortunately the problem persists. It looks like some process in my PC is canceling the HP Solutions Center application right after it starts. I first thought it could be the Avast software and removed it, nothing happened.

(On time: the issue with the HP Print and Scan Doctor I mentioned above did not happened anymore.)

Thank you very much for your attention. If you have any other suggestion I’ll be glad.

Best regards

@EdwinMurray,

Solution center is an older software and hence may not be compatible with the new Windows 10 environment.

I would suggest you use HP Scan and Capture application to scan using your Windows 10 system. HP Scan and Capture is a simple application that captures photos or documents from an HP scanning device or your computer's built-in camera.  These images can be previewed, edited, saved, and shared to other applications as well.

Click on this link to download and install the Windows Scan and Capture app.

Alternatively, you can try these steps to install HP Solution center.

The HP solution center is for older printer models and hence has a compatibility issue while running in Windows 10 environment. The issue might have been caused by recent updates on your computer. I would suggest you a workaround by changing the compatibility on the drivers. Follow the steps below (Check the fig below for ref):

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them. (Including the HP solution center)
  • Restart your computer.
  • Click on this link and download and save the full feature driver file (Do not run the file, just download and save it to your desktop or download folder)
  • Now go to the download location, right-click on the driver file and select “Properties”.
  • Under “Compatibility” tab, check the box which says “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select “Windows 8” (In fig, I have selected Windows 7, but make sure you select Windows 8).
  • Also, select the box “Run this program as an administrator”.
  • Apply and save the settings.
  • Now double-click and run the program.

That should get the solution center working. Let me know!
