HP Support Assistant--Firmware Update

I am attempting to install the HP ENVY Photo 7100 All-In-One Printer Series Firmware Update.  The download proceeds until I get a screen to select the printer I am trying to update.  Unfortunately, I cannot check the box which indicates my printer.  The only options are to either "Refresh" or "Cancel."

Since this is an important update, I would like to be able to install this.  Does anyone have any idea how to get around this?

You need not use the HP Support Assistant to install the firmware for your printer.

Download-save the firmware to your computer:

Read any / all information before installing.

• Open File Explorer (formally Windows Explorer)
• Navigate to the folder in which the installation file is saved, likely Downloads
• Right-Click on the file to be installed
• Select “Run as Administrator” to start the installation.

Unfortunately, when I download it from the downloads page, it does not allow me to select my printer.

The file is "EN7100_R1925A.exe".

Is there an alternative file that does not have this problem?

Unknown - I do not know what is disallowing the selection.

I can offer the following additional ideas...

Known solutions here:

 Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Although not likely, your security software might be blocking the selection or update.

It is possible the update is not needed.

Print a Status Report - Check the firmware version on the printer.

On the printer, touch Setup > Reports

If the printer is on the network, you might be able to use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check and manage your printer.

 Using the Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

NOTE:  Details are model dependent

If you are running Web Services (printer on the Internet), you might be able to update the firmware within EWS.

Model and connection dependent.  Web Services is explained in the User Guide.
