HP ENVY Inspire 7220e All-in-One Printer
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

NEED TO TALK TO A REAL PERSON. HP Support rejects my serial number when trying to register my product (because I need support). Have triple checked the serial number (in HP Smart App; onscreen display on printer; label on back of printer) I have the correct serial number. I enter it correctly. It gets rejected every time, and I get stopped in my tracks trying to register my product SO I CAN GET SUPPORT.

CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME AN HP SUPPPORT PHONE NUMBER TO CALL SO I CAN GET HELP SOLVING THE ISSUES WITH MY NEW HP ENVY 7200 PRINTER?

Thanks

Hi @janpro627

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you're unable to register your HP ENVY Inspire 7220e because the serial number is being rejected, even after verifying it from multiple locations on the printer and within the HP App. I can see why this would make it difficult to access support for your new printer.

To better understand the situation, could you please clarify a few details?

  1. Which country or region are you currently located in?
  2. Are you trying to register the printer through the HP Support website, the HP App, or another HP page?
  3. Do you receive any specific error message when the serial number is rejected? If so, what is the exact wording?
  4. Was the printer purchased recently, and was it bought new from an authorized retailer?
  5. Have you already completed the initial printer setup and connected the printer to your network successfully?
  6. When you enter the serial number, are you also being asked to enter a product number? If yes, is that accepted?

With this information, we can better determine whether the issue is related to product registration, product identification, or the support website itself and guide you accordingly.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye

Thank you for responding! In answer to your questions:

1. Berkeley CA

2. HP Support website, as I need support for two different errors I have been unable to resolve

3.  After signing in on the HP Support website, the web page displays info on our other HP printer (which connects to a different network and has an expired warranty). I then click on "Add a new product," enter the serial number of my new printer, and get the following message, displayed in red: "please enter a valid serial number"

4. The printer was purchased new, June 4, 2026, via the Apple Store in Berkeley CA.

5. I have completed the initial printer setup and successfully connected the printer to my network.

6. after entering the serial number, the only message is the one indicated above. i am not asked to enter a product number.

Please Note: I am currently experiencing two errors with the printer itself:

- Any document I print is only in grayscale. No color. The test page, however, does print in color.

- The HP Smart App consistently shows the printer as "out of paper" no matter how carefully I check the print drawer and reload the paper. Nothing is stuck or in the way. Paper is properly loaded.

I have unplugged, shut down, restarted the printer numerous times, trying to clear errors.

Thanks a million for any help you can provide. This has been very frustrating.
