HP PRINTER SUPPORT; char bot pops and agent Hazel Taylor convinced me I had WORMS effecting 4,000 plus files. Suggest I speak with TECH SUPPORT....tech Robin FItzgerald...proceeded sell me Norton 360 lifetime plan (does not exist). Paid big bucks to find out I wasn't using HP staff. Something is wrong with HP Printer Assist having a chat bot which turns out to feed stupid, trusting folks to expert SCAMMERS.

Welcome to the HP English Community --
Unfortunately, yours is a common story.
Landing anywhere outside of an actual HP site can lead to disaster --
The names you provide are likely as fake as the help you received.
HP would not tell you your computer is full of bugs -- HP would not check and does not care whether your computer is secure -- that is up to you, your Operating System, your onboard Security software (that you already have), and your network.
It could be worse -- should you let the scoundrels into your computer, you would lose not just control of the information you handed over to the thieves, but also control of whatever they found in your File System - documents, pictures, and anything else that is not hidden behind encryption software.
The worst I've read involved multiple call backs, multiple incursions, and thousands of dollars lost.
Talk to your bank - explain you are a victim of fraud.
What else?
I've notified our Moderator team of your concern.
Should there be a followup response, look for a message here before the agent uses other methods to contact you.

Scams and Thieves
Lots of words that mean: Beware !
====================================
Whomever you contacted was not HP Support.
There are thousands of scam sites on the Internet - they are sneaky, fancy, and so, so convincing.
If you let thieves into your computer, you might have bigger problems than a cancelled check.
- HP Support does not post free-to-find phone numbers on the Internet,
- HP Support does not transfer you to scammers and thieves,
- HP Support does not threaten, promise, lie, beg, or cajole,
- HP Support does not sneak into your computer,
- HP Support does not track you later and tell you "It's time for a paid update" for software they sold you the first time.
- HP Support does not sell any products to clear your computer of imaginary bugs.
HP Support requires that you submit your online in-Warranty Repair request to the proper channel for your region.
Beware of Fake Sites
The "Real Deal"
123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site
Be very careful when out on the Internet looking for help - one little dot, space, or letter out of place can land you in trouble.
The official HP 123 site is where you can find the appropriate (and free) software and drivers for your printer.
There are many “fake” sites listed (in search engines) for “123” – please make sure you are using the actual “HP” site.
If you are asked for money to correct "issues" on your printer or computer OR if the “help” wants to sell you software, threatens you, or wants access to your computer, you are using a “fake” site. Do not give these people your information!
