HP – USB Install error – 0x80070103 in Windows Update

Hi

I got "Install error - 0x80070103" when I tried to download and install HP - USB - 12/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4411.18331 on my Dell desktop.

I have HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw printer.  How do I resolve this error?

Hi:

A good deal of folks have had that issue.

You don't need the update.

This is what I did to prevent the update from appearing in Windows update.

Download, unzip and run the Microsoft Hide Windows Update utility that I zipped up and attached below.

A window will open and search for pending updates.

Check the box to hide the HP - USB - 12/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4411.18331 update.

The utility will run again and report the problem is 'Fixed.'

Restart the PC and try to install the update again.

It should disappear and never return unless you run the utility again to unhide the update.

It may take a couple of restarts but that will take care of the issue.

I followed your instructions and see see this in Windows Update after I Restarted my pc and also Shut Down and restart my PC

Should I restart a few more times?

I still got the error:   "Install error - 0x80070103" when I tried to download and install HP - USB - 12/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4411.18331 on my Dell desktop after I restarted a few times.

This time, I clicked the Pause Update option a few times and it eventually gave me the 'Check Updates' button.  I clicked the 'Check Updates' button and the "HP - USB - 12/10/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4411.18331" no longer appear.
