After successfully upgrading our HP Web Jetadmin installation to version 10.5 SR8 (10.5.119312), we are still experiencing “Device Communication Error” messages for all devices of the HP LaserJet Pro M404 series. The Error is:"HPWSPro Adapter Service is not started". But the Service is up and running  and has been restarted multiple times. This issue affects only this model line – all other HP printers are being properly discovered and managed.

Steps already taken:

  • Upgraded from SR6 to SR8, which includes fix CR 12444

  • Removed and rediscovered affected devices

  • HTTP enabled on the printers

  • SNMP v1/v2 enabled, community name correctly set

  • SNMP Read-Write configured

  • Access control set to “unrestricted”

  • Device correctly identified as “HP LaserJet Pro M404-405”

  • Restarted HPWSProAdapter and WJA services manually

  • Windows Firewall is completely disabled on the WJA server

  • Device firmware version: MOGAMIXXXN002.2230D.00

The WJA is running on Windows Server 2022 Standard.

As far as i can tell this is a known issue and should be resolved with future Versions of WJA or device Firmware? Can somebody confirm or deny?
