My HP Laserjet M255dw is blocked for using non-HP cartridges. I've changed all the setting to turnoff protections and it is still not working. I think this is an HP issue. It's trying to monopolize on the replacement cartridges. I think the community needs to join together and pursue a class action suit against HP for this issue.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your printer cartridges. We always recommend using genuine HP ink cartridges.
I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.

This doesn't resolve the issue that a perfectly good, new generic toner is not working because it doesn't have the HP proprietary chip. The print quality is fine when I printed a supply report, but the software locked out the printer from printing any documents. This is essentially monopoly by HP to prevent users from using non-HP toner cartridges. It is cheaper for me to buy a new laser printer from another name brand that allows generic toner rather than keep buying HP toners.
