Laserjet Pro MFP M127FW
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all

I have just set up a new computer with a fresh Windows 10 Pro install. All system drivers are current. On my old computer (also Windows 10 Pro - computer does not exist anymore), I was able to install and use the Laserjet Pro MFP M127FW without any problems.

However on my new computer, I am unable to install the printer using the latest and correct HP installation utility. It cannot find the printer on the wireless network - no matter whether I let the utility search the network or enter either IP or Device Name of the printer. Also, the HP Print Doctor software is not able to recognize the printer. However the printer is still connected to the wireless network. On the printer itself it shows as connected (with IP, etc.) and I can also access the printer via it's web interface when I enter the IP address into my browser.

Any ideas on what I can do?

Thanks and regards

Andy

Going through your post, I understand that you are having issues while installing the LaserJet on your new Windows 10 machine. Let’s try the steps listed below to try and fix the issue:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
  • Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer”  – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
  • Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (there is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files. Delete all the files here. Skip the items which cannot be deleted.
  • Now restart your computer again.
  • Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
  • Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
  • Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
  • Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
  • Click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/LES/M127/LJPro_MFP_M127-M128_full_solution_15309.e... and install the software.

Thanks a lot for the response, Dvortex !!

I have followed all the steps that you have outlined.

I was able to install the printer now - the printer was finally being detected by the HP installation utility.

I think one other critical step in solving the problem was enabling printer sharing on my network. For some reason this was disabled in my Network and Sharing Center.

Thanks for your help - I hope that I am good for now :generic:

Hi DVortex

unfortunately it seems that I have jumped the gun...

Printing from any program (Adobe Reader, Outlook, Word, Chrome, Test Page through Windows Settings etc.) does not work most of the time. The printer shows as online and I can access it through the web interface. The HP Print Doctor does recognize the printer and I am able to print a test page through the HP Print Doctor.

I have no idea what else to do. Do you have any ideas please?

Thanks and regards

@AndySA

As you have already tried these steps and still having the issue, I would personally suggest you contact our HP phone support for further assistance. If your product is Out of warranty then remember to choose the paid options to get the tech support number.

They might have multiple options to help you on this.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

Keep me posted for any other assistance,

Cheers.

Ok - managed to find the solution

It seems that the issue was a problem with the access rights to the Windows Temp folder for my Windows user. No idea what exactly caused this, but here is the solution:

From Admin Command Prompt, run:

icacls %temp% /grant %username%:(OI)(CI)F /T /C

Once I run this command, the printing works. I have created a small batch file that is automatically run at Windows start-up for this - and now printing works without problems

Cheers, Andy

I have an HP psc 2510 Photosmart all in one printer and I require to re-load the software and drivers but the HP.Com/support website does not allow me to do this. I have tried all the options they suggest and they all fail for one reason or another. I have even tried to speak to their technical department and that failed also.  I am a very frustrated customer!!
