HP ENVY 6055 All-In-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Any idea what to do, when my HP ENVY Pro 6400 All-in-One only prints blank pages - even after printhead cleanings & replacing the ink cartridges?  I even swapped in a HP ENVY 6000 with new cartridges - and same problem.

All thoughts are appreciated!

Hi @NP1002,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Pro 6400 is printing blank pages even after replacing the printer and ink cartridges, there are several potential issues to investigate. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

1. Check Ink Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure the new ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove them and reinstall, ensuring they click into place.

2. Inspect Print Head

  • The print head may be clogged or damaged. If possible, perform a thorough cleaning:
    • Go to the printer settings on the control panel and select the print head cleaning option.
    • If the printer has a removable print head, take it out and clean it gently with a lint-free cloth or a damp paper towel.

3. Run Printer Diagnostic Tools

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool:
    • Download it from the HP website and run the diagnostics to identify and fix any issues automatically.

4. Check Paper Type and Quality

  • Ensure you’re using the right type of paper for your prints. Some printers have trouble with certain paper types or weights, which can affect ink distribution.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on. This can reset any internal errors.

6. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can usually check this in the printer’s settings menu or on the HP website.

7. Print Test Pages

  • Attempt to print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to see if it works. This helps to determine if the issue is with the printer or the computer.

8. Check Connection Type

  • If you’re connected via Wi-Fi, try switching to a USB connection to rule out any connectivity issues.

9. Examine Print Settings

  • Make sure you’re not accidentally selecting a setting that might cause blank pages, such as “Print in Grayscale” or “Draft” mode

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

These eight steps did not resolve my issue.  I have two separate working printers on my network -  HP Envy Pro 6400 and a HP Envy 6000 - and both print upon demand, but nothing but blank pages.  They are both in fine working order otherwise. What else could it be?
