Hi.

First of all I'd like you to know that English isn't my first language so I apologise for any mistakes I make.

 

I have got Color LaserJet M177fw for a few years now and it works fine in network with all existing computers. Printer is seen in setting page in website. But when I tried to install software from HP site on new laptop, the install app doesn't see this device in network and I can't install scan driver and application. HP smart also doesn't see it.

 

But I can add just the printer through the devices and printers aplet in Windows by entering an IP address.

 

I can use it just as a printer but I would like to have an ability to scan.

 

It's really strange situation and I haven't found an answer anywhere. I hope I'll find it here.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

 

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

 

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

 

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Thanks for the reply, Betty.

I did everything even twice (I found this solution at the first and it didn't help, but I tried once more). Unfortunately the situation didn't change.

I think it's something wrong with a printer, because it's not seen by any of the computers in the network - even on those where it was previous configured and everything still works fine that's why I wouldn't like to mess with a resetting the printer to default settings.
