Hi @vvvv1111,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Laser MFP 136w printer is stuck at "System Initializing," it typically indicates a startup issue that might be caused by a firmware problem, a hardware malfunction, or an internal error.
Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshooting the problem:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
2. Check for Any Paper Jams
- Open all the access doors and remove the toner cartridge.
- Carefully inspect the printer for any paper jams or foreign objects.
- If you find any, remove them and then reinsert the toner cartridge.
3. Perform a Cold Reset
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the Stop/Cancel button.
- While holding the Stop/Cancel button, turn the printer back on.
- Continue holding the button until you see the printer's LED indicators flash or hear a sound.
- Release the button and allow the printer to restart.
4. Update the Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Since the printer is stuck, this step may require the assistance of HP support or using a USB flash drive to update the firmware in recovery mode.
5. Try a Different Power Outlet
- Plug the printer into a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the power supply.
6. Check the Printer's Environment
- Ensure the printer is in a well-ventilated area and that nothing is blocking the vents. Overheating can sometimes cause the printer to hang during initialization.
