Hi @msmazed
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet 1020 is not printing on the right side of the paper, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. Check Printer Settings
- Print Preferences: Go to the print dialog on your computer and check the printer properties. Ensure that the page size is set correctly (e.g., A4, Letter) and that there are no custom margins set that could be pushing the print area to the left.
2. Check Page Setup in Your Document
- Margins: Open your document and check the margin settings. Make sure that the right margin is not set too wide, which could prevent printing on that side.
- Alignment: Ensure that any text or images in the document are correctly aligned to the page.
3. Run a Print Test Page
- Try printing a test page directly from the printer properties. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer or the document itself.
4. Check for Paper Issues
- Paper Alignment: Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray. Check that the paper guides are snug against the edges of the paper.
- Paper Size: Ensure that the paper size loaded in the tray matches the size set in the printer settings.
5. Update Printer Drivers
- Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
6. Check for Hardware Issues
- Printhead Issues: Since this is a laser printer, check the toner cartridge. Sometimes a misaligned or defective cartridge can cause printing issues.
- Internal Obstructions: Open the printer and check for any foreign objects or debris that may be blocking the print path.
7. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary issues.
8. Consult the User Manual
- Refer to the printer’s manual for any specific troubleshooting related to print alignment and margins.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
