I got a new laptop so I have been trying to set up my printer. This has been going on, in circles, for hours. I am getting the dreaded blinking blue light on the printer.

I completely uninstalled everything on my laptop and then ensured, as per HP,  that I downloaded and installed the Windows 10 compatible version. I run the .exe -- but I do not get any kind of prompts asking me to set anything up. I have done this process twice. Once with the USB cable attached and then once again without it attached. I am not getting options to set up the wireless  on it which is really what I want to do.

I have gone around in circles for the last 6 hours and now I am turning to the community to see what to try/do next.

Please help!

@LLBgal, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Follow the steps below to isolate and resolve the issue-

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printing issues.

For more information, go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor

Also, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help

Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I already did all of that. I spent hours trying to get it to work. It does print now but only on the manual setting which is ridiculous because I can't change the A4 paper setting. Yes, I have already gone in to all the settings and tried to change to letter. This is a known issue that still doesn't seem to have a fix.

Wish there was a patch that could actually work.

Thanks for replying!

Were you able to connect the printer to the computer?

Which application are you trying to print from?

Meanwhile, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Keep me posted for further assistance.
