@Tomhamilton,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Run as Administrator:

  • Right-click the HP Print and Scan Doctor shortcut or executable file.
  • Select "Run as administrator" to make sure it's not being blocked by permissions.

Restart the Computer:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can help clear any temporary issues.

Reinstall the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Uninstall the current version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest version of the tool.
  • Reinstall it and try opening it again.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Disable any security software temporarily (antivirus, firewall) and check if the program opens.
  • If it works, you can adjust settings in the security software to allow the program.

Check Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your system is up to date. Sometimes, Windows updates fix issues that might interfere with certain applications.

Check for Background Processes:

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for any processes related to HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you see any, right-click and end the task, then try opening the program again.

Check Compatibility:

  • If you're using an older version of Windows, ensure the version of HP Print and Scan Doctor you're using is compatible with your OS.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
