HP C36E4D Office Jet Pro 6960  Thank You.  It will print if i send it to the HP email address.  Otherwise it won't.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, unplugged and re plugged, all the things suggested in the online fixes..

Did you uninstall the printer driver from the root level before installing a new driver?

If not, follow the below steps:

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

I hope that helps.

I did as you said. When I tried to remove from the root, there were to items there.  One item dropped off the the second item said "unable to remove (name and number of the printer) PCL-3 x64 Type 4 user mode driver currently in use (printer was turned off).  I then went back and tried to install the new HP Tool anyway and it said it was already on the pc.  I tried to run a diagnostic but it was unable to fix.  Thank you for your suggestion -- just didn't work. (Sorry it took so long to respond -- was on vacation.
