To open your HP Smart Tank 500 printer, you typically need a Philips screwdriver (also known as a cross-head screwdriver). Depending on the specific model, you may encounter screws that are either standard Philips size #1 or #0.

 

Make sure to use the correct size to avoid stripping the screws. Additionally, having a plastic spudger or pry tool can help gently open the casing without damaging it.
