Not quite the situation Kumor.
For instance if I try to print a document from MS Word, then it works but if I try to print or scan using the HP utility that was part of the software package, it will only work when the USB cable is connected.
If I look in the Printer Toolbox within this utility this is what I see. It shows Installation IO is USB. When I try to install the printer as a network printer, it is unable to do so.

This might require remote access of the computer to fix the issue:
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

Hello Sandy,
Because my printer is out of warranty I can only get the basic customer support which I have been through several times already and it has got nowhere. It seems that I will have to just put up with it as it is unless you can come up with a better solution.

Hello Sandy,
I thought that I would try to install the printer from the beginning like a new printer so I erased it from the list of printers in "Devices and Printers" I then unplugged the printer from the power for a minute to clear any memory but when I plugged it back in it immediately connects to the network again.
Is there any way that I can install it like a new printer out of the box?

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and run HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software
I hope that helps.

Hello Sandy,
Thank you for you continued interest in my problem.
I have already tried this procedure twice but still end up with the same result.
The computer and the printer are connected to the same network but the HP software will only connect via the USB cable.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
