To properly set up your HP DeskJet 2700 printer, it is essential to use HP ink cartridges labeled "Setup.” Follow these steps to install the setup cartridges:

Remove the Printer from the Box: Remove all tape, stickers, and packing materials from the printer. Ensure the internal packing materials are removed before turning on the printer.

Connect the Power Cord:

• Plug the printer into an electrical outlet.
• Turn on the printer and wait until the printer is idle and silent.

Add the Printer to HP Smart:

• Download and install the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com.
• Open the app and follow the prompts to add your printer.

Load Plain Paper:

• Raise the input tray.
• Load a stack of plain white paper.
• Adjust the paper width guide to ensure it rests lightly against the edge of the paper.

Install the Ink Cartridges:

• Lower the output tray and open the ink cartridge access door.
• Remove the ink cartridges from their packaging.
• Holding the cartridge by its sides, remove the protective tape.
  • Important: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.
• Slide the cartridge into its corresponding color-coded slot at a slight upward angle and push up until it snaps into place.

Close the Ink Cartridge Access Door:

• After installing both cartridges, close the ink cartridge access door.
• The printer might print an alignment page. Follow the instructions on the page to align the cartridges to complete the installation.
