HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My printer which is connected to my Windows 11 PC suddenly only prints half a page. It prints the test page first half on first page and second half on a second page. I reinstall the driver from HP site and updated the firmware.

@SOIT78, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2855e is printing only half of the test page on two separate sheets when connected via USB to your Windows 11 PC. You've already reinstalled the driver and updated the firmware, great first steps!

Let’s try the following to resolve the issue:

Check Paper Size and Layout Settings

Sometimes incorrect paper size or layout settings can cause this issue.

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2855e > Printing Preferences
  • Under the Paper/Quality or Layout tab:
    • Ensure Paper Size is set to A4 or Letter (as per your paper)
    • Set Orientation to Portrait
    • Click Advanced and verify that the paper size matches your actual paper

Reinstall Printer Using HP Smart

Sometimes a clean reinstall via HP Smart resolves driver conflicts.

  • Uninstall the printer from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  • Restart your PC
  • Download and install the printer using the HP Smart App

Check for Print Spooler Issues

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
  • Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click > Restart

Try Printing from Another App

Try printing a test page from another application (like Notepad or Word) to see if the issue persists. This helps isolate whether it's a printer or software issue.

Hi,

It was doing the same thing with MS Word. So I removed the printer and scanner from Device Manager checking off deletion of drivers. Then re-installed printer driver and universal scanner. All works well now! I am a retired WinIntel System Engineer but had bad health issue which left me struggling to do the things I used to do for a living - basic trouble shooting. Should've thought of that on my own but thankfully your reply reminded me to do the above. I really wanted the scanner more than the printer I do very occasional printing but now very HAPPY with my HP2855e for both Printing and Scanning.

Thanks

Don
