HP Officejet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

My printer (all of a sudden) was giving me error messages so I tried to uninstall my driver. I kept getting an admin error so I followed the advice on this thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Cannot-uninstall-driver-HP-OfficeJet-3830...

After doing that and some other things I was able to uninstall the driver.

Now I'm trying to re-install the driver and it keeps telling me it cannot install because of error 2753. I've already tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try and use the HP Smart App to see if that works: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142

Let me know if this helps.

I am in the same situation - have followed the same procedure as mentioned above, as well as the one here:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Unsuccessful-Network-Installation/m-p/609...

Neither have worked. I receive the 2753 error when I try to install the drivers manually and can't continue with the installation.

When I try to install the printer with the HP Smart App, it appears as if everything goes correctly. The app says that the driver is installed, the App post install lists: Installation Status as Installed, Status as Ready, Connection Status as Active, and Windows shows the printer as Ready via Microsoft Word. There is no indication that it will be unable to print. However, whenever I try to print from my PC, I get a Print error via the Windows print queue and the printer status switches to Error in Windows.

I have no issues printing from other devices on the network, and I have no issues printing a test page directly from the printer via it's IP page. I only have issues when attempting to print from the computer where the drivers were un-installed.

As a follow-up, if I change the port for the printer to by TCP/IP and enter the IP address, it will print in black and white, but not color. Somehow the WSD port does not communicate directly with the spooler service.

Which Printer do you have?

Thanks!

Thank you! I also have the HP OfficeJet 3830.

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

I removed the 3830 from my installed printers by clicking 'Remove Device' and I removed the drivers from the Print Server Properties / Drivers tab.

I then tried to re-install it via Windows by clicking on 'Add a printer or scanner.' The first time, I received a 'Driver unavailable' message. I re-started my PC and tried again. The second time, it appeared to install correctly in Windows (shows as status "Ready") but when I went to print, I received the same "Error - Printing" message in the print queue, no different than before.

Hi Betty,

Thanks for the response. I've tried this but was unable to download the driver as i got an error message saying the driver was "unsigned".

and have you tried this method?

 Create a TCP IP port

1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)

2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.

3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.

4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.

This video resource will show you how to do it:

Create & Use TCP IP port
