HP3835
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

Recently, i'v installed Windows 10 Home from MS official site using their tool.

Now, I am tryind to use my printer at maximum capacity.

1st I downloaded the official driver from HP site. It pass all tests, but when i need to print, scan or send faxes, the driver asks me to chose how i want to connect my printer.  I choosed the Wi-Fi, but the driver cannot find my printer, i put the LAN IP manually, it finds, but never saves that setting.

2nd> i downloade HP Smart Prind from MS Store and HP Universal Fax Driver from HP site. It works partially. The HP FAx driver works very well, but the HP Smart Prind cannot print with colors, only gray (w/b). I tried to change setting, but without any succes.

So, I am using an InkJet HP3835 over Wi-Fi.

On Windows 7 it works without any major errors. I have more than 1 device that can use the printer, so the USB connection is not an option.

Any ideas?

@KyKyKyKy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

What is the exact model for your printer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor to get this sorted out

Please download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from this Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

Run PSDR v5.0.2

Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.

Select the correct Printer and click on Next.

PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing

Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.

Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”

PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.

Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue.  If no issue found close PSDR.

Also, try using the HP Smart App and let me know if that helps. Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hp-smart/9wzdncrfhwlh

You can refer to this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142 for more information on HP Smart App

I am already using  HP Smart App, because it is the only app which is working.

I am using HP 3835 (CN5992J2010665) via Wi-Fi network with 2 computers and somethimes with Android phone.

Yes, HP Smart App cannot print colours, only gray tones and black.

HP Print and Scan Doctor dosent notify any problems.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.

To print in color from HP smart app, let us follow these steps:

  1. Open the document you would like to print via HP Smart > on the left hand pane, make sure the right printer is selected.
  2. Click on more settings at the bottom > print in greyscale > change it to color > Save
  3. Try to print.

Let me know how this goes.

If you feel my post solved your issue, please click “Accept as Solution”, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

It is on the same network with same subnet and gateway on the same router.

As i already said: on another computer with Windows 7 it works without any problems.

Yes, my router have both frequencies. The printers and some phones are connected to 2.4 GHz and Smart TV, and two phones are connected to 5 GHz. The all devices can be reached inside of LAN and outside (with some restrictions) from WAN.

I have one printer, in HP Smart it is the only printer which is already selected.

I sent to my printer 3 lines with dots with different colors (red, yellow and green) from LibreOffice. The b/w printing is unchecked and the printer used gray tones.

I recommend you root uninstall the printer and then reinstall it and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
