Many "instructions" scattered around the Internet related to the topic, but they are not correct - they reference screen sequences that do not occur or screen contents that don't exist - probably old info. So what is are the current correct steps to follow to display total page count on this printer?

Hi @hankjeff,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to check the display of the total page count on your HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer, follow these current steps, as some older instructions may no longer apply:

Option 1: From the Embedded Web Server (EWS) Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Find the printer's IP address:

  • On the printer control panel, press the Wireless icon or Network icon to display the network information.
  • Note the IP address listed (e.g., 192.168.x.x).

Access the EWS:

  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • Type the printer's IP address into the browser's address bar and press Enter.

Sign in (if prompted):

  • If you're prompted to sign in, use the default admin credentials unless you've changed them.

Navigate to Usage Information:

  • In the EWS, look for the Reports or Tools tab (names may vary slightly).
  • Select Printer Reports or Usage Report.
  • The total page count should be displayed in this section.

Option 2: From the Printer Control Panel

Access Printer Settings:

  • On the printer’s touchscreen control panel, go to the Settings or Setup menu.
  • Look for Reports or Printer Information.

Print Usage Report:

  • From the available options, choose Print Usage Report or Printer Status Report.
  • This report will include the total page count.

Option 3: HP Smart App (if available) HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Open HP Smart App:

  • On your Windows 10 computer, open the HP Smart App.

Access Printer Info:

  • Select your printer from the list.
  • Look for a section labeled Printer Status or Printer Reports.
  • The total page count may be displayed there, or you may need to print a Usage Report from the app.

Refer to this document: HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
