OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wireless printer will not wakeup after sleep mode.  The printer must be powered off and the on again.  This is not a windows issue its a printer issue.  I have seen tons of posts on other printers with the exact same problem.  Any ideas on a fix???

@PROGRMR

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Turn off IPV6 from the printer's front panel menu:

  1. Setup Menu
  2. Network Setup
  3. Advanced Settings
  4. IPV6, select Off.
  5. Reboot the router and printer.
  6. Allow the printer to go to sleep.
  7. Once the printer is asleep, tap the screen to wake the printer up.
  8. What were the results?

NOTE: If you receive an error that wireless is disabled when using a wired connection, temporarily unplug the ethernet cable and repeat the steps above.

If the problem persists, continue on.

Restore the printer to the original network settings

  • 1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).
  • 2. Touch Network Setup.
  • 3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.
  • 4. Touch Yes.
  • 5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
