I am trying to activate the duplexer unit attached to my HP LJ 4250n.  I am running Linux Mint 20.3.  I have hplip v 3.21.8 installed and it is printing fine to all three of my HP printers, including my HPLJ 4250.  The trouble is that it won't recognize my duplexer unit.  But I dual boot this machine with Windows 10 and under Windows 10 it recognizes and duplex prints just fine.

When I open the HP Device Manager... Select my 4250 printer... then select the Print Settings tab...  then expand the installed options section, the option for the duplexer unit is set to off and grayed out.  The only options that are not grayed out in that section are Printer Disk, Accessory Output Bins, Fit to Page, and Total Memory.

I wondered if it might be a permissions issue of some kind so I tried running the hp-toolbox from the command line as root, but I get a warning saying the tool should not be run as a super user and some error messages so I assume that's not the issue.

I'm out of ideas.  Has anyone else come across this before?

Thanks!

Troy
