Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

After a windows 10 update my desktop is stuck in a windows installer loop trying to configure Photosmart Essentials and looking for the .msi file which does not exist on my computer.

I've tried stopping the installation process but it just goes into another configuration loop which stalls when it cant find the .msi file.

I've tried and failed to stop the installer process because the stop option is greyed out even as administrator.

I've tried to uninstall Photosmart Essentials but that wont complete because it detects the installer process running.

I'm thinking of starting in safe mode and then trying to uninstall Essentials but haven't tried this yet.

Most of the 'answers' seem to involve finding a good version of the .msi installer file but this doesn't seem to exist on legitimate sites.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

In order to resolve this incident, please follow the following procedure:

  3. Locate then double click on the 7zS... folder (if there are several, choose the most recent one).
  4. Double click on the util folder, then ccc and run Uninstall_L1.bat. The computer will restart after the uninstallation.
  5. Re-access the same location to launch Uninstall_L2.bat, Uninstall_L3.bat and Uninstall_L4.bat.
  6. After the last restart of the PC, launch the registry editor:

Thank you for the response.

Can you tell me if your procedure will uninstall or damage the HP Solution Centre which I use to access the scan functions on the all in one.

It also displays ink levels and the connection status  and  I see it will also start Photosmart Essentials 3.5 although I never use this particular program.

I would hate to lose the Solution Centre because its a very nice interface.

Additional info.

The HPPhotosmartessentials app is no longer in the Program and Features section of the control panel, And no Folder exists in the Windows Program HP section of the C drive. There is a folder called HPPSE in HP Dogital Imaging which only containd two data files and t plugin files so I think its fair to say the uninstall that failed did remove almost all the HHPhotoessential files and folders.

Unfortunately the installer window is still in its loop.
