Actually, I'm on macOS Monterey but it's not on the option list. I just want to express my frustration with how HP has – within just a few days – turned the HPSmart app into a nightmare. It worked simply and perfectly just a few days ago but today, I need to scan a document to send to my accountant and a window comes up requiring that I sign in order to use HPSmart. It kept going circular (telling me to look at a open browser window - that might be hiding behind another document – there was no open browser window. I wasted 35-40 minutes trying to sort this out. I finally went to System Preferences and Printer Setup and selected my Officejet Pro 9015 and scanned the document from with the macOS. Why does HP have to screw up a nice app and work environment? What did they do with/to HPSmart? How do I use it now to scan? Nightmare.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

I had a similar problem just installing HP SMART to my new iMac M1 with Monterey (Mac OS 12.1).

I finally figured out that my default browser preferences were blocking the pop-ups.

There were no warning messages, it just kept going back to the same screen.

Ultimately,  you will have to allow browser pop-ups (for support.hp.com) and you may want to reboot, too.

Look for Pop-Up Windows in

Safari > Preferences > Websites (tab)

Pop-up Windows is at the bottom of the list.

And, yes, you will need to log into your HP account at least once.

I haven't been asked to log in again, ever since.

Clearly, it's a web abased utility, but it does work.

I'm also extremely frustrated. I have been using the HP SMART APP on my Android with HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 for 2 years. It was a wonderful app. Today I've spent more than an hour trying to scan a bulk document but the app won't even let me sign in!!! I'm literally unable to use this app, it's become so horrible!!!
