HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

"HP Smart" randomly keeps telling me Genuine HP cartridges have been installed when nothing has changed.

It seems to do this shortly after the printer has had an error no matter what the error is related to.

If a paper jam has been cleared it may randomly tell me the ink cartridges installed are Genuine HP two or three or more times.

I do not want or need these notifications even if they are for the right reason. How do I stop these notifications permanently?

Hi @HPretiree2009,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain on the printer.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Thank you Irwin6 but I think I'll try a few other scenarios first.

I see where you are going with these suggestions and I know they are probably the HP recommendations but I cannot be moving my printer around until the HP provided power cord reaches its own dedicated outlet. It is possible that your suggestions would work but it is just not possible in most home office environments.

The firmware is up to date and at this time, and, after I power cycled the printer and rebooted the computer the problem has not yet reoccurred. If it reoccurs, I will try all the removal and replacement of the cartridges and hope that does not use so much ink that I am then forced to buy new ones due to the constant testing the replacements cause to check that they are genuine HP and the alignments they perform.
