My problems started when I could no longer scan using the printer front panel after upgrading to win10.
The reccomended solution suggest re-installing my printer drivers using HPSupportSolutionsFramework-12.5.26.37.exe however this fails (even when I allow download of the full suite), first message says the USB cable should be removed the second message just says "error", great help!
Any suggestion how I can get my scanner up and running again?
I also see that another user resorted to finding a Win XP PC just for his printer so this has to be a win10 compatability issue. Would help if the HP win10 drivers worked!
Any ides?

Hi @sburnell548,
Can you try this Uninstaller from Microsoft and then reinstall the FULL feature software again?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:
The following resource will help you :
HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL50403/mp-150580-2/hppiw.exe
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.
Hope that helps.

I have alraedy tried this. Scan works during the test but this does NOT fix the problem wih the front panel scan button.
It seems that the PC can 'communicate' with my printer but my printer cannot 'communicate' with my PC. This is not a simple USB problem as both print and scan (if initiated from PC) work.

Hi @sburnell548
Thanks for your feedback.
How to Scan to Computer
Once you have installed the software:
1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

thanks for your instructions, however:
1. I do not have a printer icon on my desktop!
2. I do have a windows menu item HP photosmart 5510 series
is this the one?
3. When I run this a small window flashes on screen for less than a second so I cannot read it!
Back to my original post - the printer software did not successfully install
