I have the same issue. In my case the printer involved is an HP 1012 Laserjet. I would really not like to throw away a perfectly good laser printer simply because I lack a proper driver.

It seems there are many of us who have defunct HP printers since upgrading to Ventura (OS 13). Apple are insistent this is an HP issue and HP don't want to help if the printer is out of warranty. Guess like so many companies, HP are happy to sell but not support

I spent hours, over 8 in total, on the phone with HP and for the moment now have both old Envy 5532, and new 6032e printers running. Not sure how long it will last; a software upgrade to HP Smart last week knocked them both out! The solution seemed to be:
Remove all printers from System Settings and fully delete HP Smart app, empty trash and reboot computer.
Reinstall HP Smart app, and "add printer"
When HP Smart says it cannot find the printer, it should give you the option to go to system settings, where you can add your printer manually using IP address - from the 'globe' and using Protocol: Airprint. Where IP address shows as "name" this can be changed to your chosen name.
In my case it was concluded that using a static IP resolved my having to reload the printer every day. Apologies, I cannot recall the exact steps taken to achieve this - I can only remember it was from printer settings.
It was extremely hard work, though I give huge thanks to the last HP agent that found a way through the nightmare where others had just said the 5532 was too old to work, and the 6032e clearly wouldn't work and to take it back for a refund.
GFood Luck!
