Has anyone successfully connected HP Smart SW on Windows to an OfficeJet MFD on a different subnet? OfficeJet 7740 and I'd like to use the native software to be able to scan. My printer is on a different subnet vs. my PC. eg: Computer is on 10.0.111.0/24 subnet and the printer is on 10.0.112/24 subnet.
- I can successfully connect to the printer through a web browser and all looks fine.
- Can ping the printer
- If I temporarily connect my PC to the same subnet, the HP Smart software works
- I see nothing in firewall logs, and have attempted to install the printer with the firewall turned off. No effect.
How do I configure the HP Smart software to connect to the printer on a different subnet? Can anyone confirm whether or not this functionality exists and works in the HP Smart software?
Thanks.

I suggest you install the full-featured printer driver for printing and scanning and other features of the printer.
Click here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series/... to download the Full Feature Software and Drivers.
However, refer to this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142 for Install and Use the HP Smart App.
Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi Raj1788, HP Employee,
Thank you for your kind reply.
Sadly, it is non responsive. I ask again:
Can you confirm whether or not the HP Smart software is able to connect to my HP 7740 printer with an IP address on a different subnet, as I clearly and specifically asked in my inquiry? I don't want to be rude, but I'm asking a very specific question that I assume is very definitively answerable.
Thanks.

Hi Raj1788, HP Employee,
Thank you again for your kind response. Sadly, your response, once again, is non-responsive to my simple and very specific question about the functionality of HP's HP Smart software. I have inquired at HP Support, unfortunately, they are unable to respond to my inquiry since I'm more than 1 year since my purchase and and outside of their normal warranty request period. They referred my to this community to get my question answered. Hence my specific inquiry here to the user base:
Have any users been able to connect with HP Smart software to an OfficeJet printer on a different subnet, and if so, what configuration options are chosen?
I'm assuming that, since you're an HP employee, you have a basic understanding of the capability of your software and can answer my specific question?
Thanks

You could try going to the Printer's EWS Page and assign the desired Subnet
1) Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address or print a Network Configuration Page
2) Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
3) Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
4) Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
5) Click Manual IP
6) If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
7) If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed.
