Hello! I am desperately looking for a solution to my problem. My HP Envy 7134 printer has been working perfectly until 2-3 months ago. Occasionally, I would get "printer offline" error messages when trying to scan a document. Then I would turn off and on the printer and everything worked fine. The printer has always been connected to my WiFi network.

A couple of months ago I had to turn off and on the printer because of the same problem. After turning on the printer, it stuck in the middle of the boot-up/loading screen with the HP logo. No matter how long I waited, there was no progress. Turning off the printer using the power button was not possible. I did some research online as well as in the forum here and manage to solve the problem after pulling the power cable from the socket and leaving the printer without power overnight.

PS:  I have tried to remove the Instant Ink cartridges and place them again, but this also did not solve the problem.

Since this first time, the problem came again and again. Every time I would solve it by pulling the power cable for the night. The next day the printer would work fine.

Now I have reached the point, where this solution does not work anymore. The printer is stuck at the end of the boot-up process (the loading bar is full) and cannot move on. I haven't found a suitable solution online. The printer is not under warranty, so I cannot get any real support from HP.

I am pretty sure it is some kind of firmware issue, but if I cannot turn the printer on, and without a connection cable (there was non in the package), there are not many things I can do.

PS: I have tried to remove and re-install the Instant Ink cartridges, but this didn't solve the problem.

Hi @Josh231_

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially since the temporary fix of unplugging the printer overnight no longer works. Given that your HP Envy 7134 is stuck at the boot-up screen, it does seem likely that a firmware issue is preventing it from fully initializing.

Here are some steps you can try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Open the printer and inspect for any paper jams or foreign objects that might be interfering with startup.
  • Remove any debris carefully.

3. Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges

  • Take out the Instant Ink cartridges.
  • Wait a few minutes, then reinsert them securely.

4. Attempt a Firmware Recovery

5. Factory Reset (if accessible)

  • If the printer starts but remains unresponsive, check the printer menu (if accessible) for a factory reset option.

I know this situation is frustrating, especially when the printer was working fine before. Hopefully, one of these steps helps get it back up and running! Let me know if you need further assistance.

hi Hawks_Eye

I have attempted steps 1,2 & 3 but unfortunately no joy.

step 4 seems to be a bit more difficult to achieve, I have connected the printer via USB but unfortunately it’s undetectable so I cannot complete the update via the laptop & I cannot access it via the HP smart app because it’s offline.

thanks

@Josh231_, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you so much for posting your query! My colleague @Hawks_Eye is currently out, but don't worry – I’ll be taking over and making sure we get this sorted for you.

I’m here to help, and together, we’ll work through this!

I suggest you follow these steps to resolve the offline printer issue:

First, unplug the printer completely, turn off your laptop and router, wait one minute, then power everything back on.

Next, let’s remove any old settings that could be causing problems. On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Remove device. Then, go to Device Manager, under Print queues, and uninstall any drivers related to your printer. Now, reinstall it using HP Smart, this is the easiest way to ensure your printer is properly set up.

If the printer still doesn’t show up or keeps going offline, check your Wi-Fi network and make sure it’s connected to the same network as your laptop and phone. If possible, assign the printer a static IP address in your router settings so it doesn’t keep "disappearing."

If all else fails, try a factory reset on the printer and start fresh.

I truly hope these steps help get things back on track. If you have any questions or need any further clarification, just let me know – I’m happy to guide you through it and make sure everything works perfectly.

Take care, and I hope you have an amazing day ahead! 😊

Problem solved? 🎉 That’s fantastic! If you could mark this as the Accepted Solution, it would help others find their way here faster. And if you found this helpful, a simple ‘yes’ would mean a lot – it makes my day and gives this reply a little street cred! 🏅
