I have macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 I am trying to instal the lastest driver to my HP CP1525nw printer. The printer will not wireless connect to my router.  I have it plugged in to the router and it was printing trough that connection. When I try to download the driver to the printer, using HP Easy Start it sees the printer. But, when I try to continue to down load it says it can’t communicate with the printer. Any suggestions?

Hi @GeeNee12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how frustrating it can be when the printer won’t connect or download drivers, especially after it worked with a wired connection. Let’s take a closer look and work through some possible solutions to get your HP CP1525nw back on track.

  • Does the printer show as "offline" in the printer list, or is it showing any specific error when you attempt the connection?
  • Is your Mac connected to the same network as the printer when trying to install the driver?
  • Have you tried using the printer’s control panel to reconnect it to your wireless network, or does it fail to recognize the network?

Let's try these steps.

Power Cycle the Printer and Router:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the router. Wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Restart your router as well to refresh the network connection.
  • After both are restarted, try reconnecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network via the printer’s control panel.

Reinstall the Printer Using HP Easy Start:

  • Uninstall any previous HP software or drivers.
  • Download the latest HP Easy Start from the HP website.
  • Launch the Easy Start app and try to reinstall the driver.
  • Make sure that your Mac is on the same network as the printer.

Connect Printer via WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

  • On the printer, press the WPS button (refer to the printer’s manual for location) to initiate the wireless connection.
  • Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes to complete the connection.

Manually Add Printer via System Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + button to add a printer.
  • If your printer is listed, select it and follow the on-screen instructions to add it.

Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check if any firewall or antivirus settings are blocking the connection between your Mac and the printer.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall or antivirus, then try downloading and installing the driver again.

If you’re still unable to connect, it may be worth checking whether your printer’s wireless functionality needs a firmware update or whether there’s an issue with the network settings.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
