Hewlett-Packard - USB - 40.11.1109.1746
Install error - 0x800f020b
This is the error I've received for the last 7 months or so when running the Windows Update. Fails every time.
Using the printer wirelessly, so thought I might connect via USB to see if it will then accept the Update but the printer's USB port came covered by a sticker that has an "X" out USB picture which I'm left to guess that it is not meant to be used.
Online searches talk about hiding bad Updates in the Windows Update app but would rather not install a 3rd party app.
Does anyone know of a fix to this Update?
Thanks

Hi @CowboyNav,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with installing an update for your printer.
Are you able to make a copy on the printer standalone? (Place an original document on the scanner glass and make a copy to confirm hardware is working fine)
To understand the issue and help you, please share the details listed below:
- Are you seeing that update on your printer or on the device from which you are trying to print?
- Are you able to print from the device wirelessly?
- May I know which application you are using to print?
- When was the last time your printer was working fine?
- Were there any changes made to your printer recently?
- May I know which devices are you using to print eg: Windows PC, Mac, or Smartphone (Android or iPhone)?
Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

No problems with the printer itself. It prints and scans as expected.
The issue is on Windows Update on a Windows 11 computer.
I have a constant, "Hewlett-Packard - USB - 40.11.1109.1746, Install error - 0x800f020b" error.
Since I see "USB" in the update title, thinking maybe the update is focused on the USB system in the printer. My HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 Series has a USB port but has a sticker over it that implies it is not to be used (i.e. icon pic that is X'd out). I could remove the sticker and plug the printer into my PC with a USB cord but don't really care to test that out right now.
Just wondering if I'm the only HP user getting this and/or how to either have the update install or not appear on my Windows Update. Thanks for responding.

Hi @CowboyNav,
Thank you for sharing the above information and as the update is related to your HP PC/Laptop.
To understand the issue and help you, please share the details listed below:
Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial number, phone number, email ID, etc., on your public post.
- Exact model number/product number(SKU number) of your HP Product (Click here for information on how to find the model number/product number).
- Few updates might not be related to the PC/Laptop model you own.
- The update might be related to the USB ports on your laptop or for a printer if it can be used through USB port. As you are not using the printer with the USB connection, you can skip that update for now and windows will release a new update to fix it.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 series
Product #: 1K7K7A
Firmware Version: MALBECPP1N004.2349A.00

Yes, I do not/never had this printer connected to my laptop via USB. The USB port on the printer is covered by a sticker that I've not removed as well. I've searched through the Windows troubleshooting and have found no successful fix. Hoping for a new update (from Windows or HP) but, sadly, ... nothing.
Thanks for staying on this.
