Hello. Please can someone tell me how I can change the colour settings on My HP smart tank 750. I am printing using the Windows print dialogue. When I go to the HP printer settings, It allows me to select the paper and print quality. But I cannot see how to change the colour anywhere. I want to reduce the saturation as the colour is to intense. Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

Hi @Chris_N1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating it can be when your prints come out too saturated, especially when you're aiming for a more natural or professional look. Let's walk through how you can adjust the color settings on your HP Smart Tank 750 when printing from Windows.

Step-by-Step via Windows Print Dialog:

  1. Open the document or image you want to print.
  2. Press Ctrl + P to open the Print dialog.
  3. Select your HP Smart Tank 750 printer.
  4. Click on Printer PropertiesPreferences, or More Settings (this varies by app).
  5. Go to the Color or Advanced tab (depending on your driver).
  6. Look for options like:
    • Color Adjustment
    • Saturation
    • Brightness
    • Contrast
    • Color Theme (e.g., Office, Photo, Adobe RGB)
  7. Adjust the saturation slider to reduce the intensity of colors.
  8. Click OK to save and return to the print dialog.
  9. Click Print.

Tip: Disable HP EasyColor (if enabled)

HP EasyColor automatically adjusts images, which can sometimes oversaturate colors.

To disable it:

  • In the Printer Properties, go to the Color tab.
  • Uncheck HP EasyColor if available.
  • Then manually adjust saturation and other settings.

Hi @Chris_N1,

I see, and you're trying to locate the Colour tab in the printing preferences, but it's missing from all the available tabs.

What You Can Try

1. Switch to a Different Print Shortcut

  • Go to the Printing Shortcuts tab.
  • Select General Everyday Printing or Factory Defaults.
  • Then check if the “Print in Grayscale” option appears under Paper/Quality or the Advanced tab.
    • If it's on, turn it off to enable color printing.

2. Install Full HP Driver and Software

Sometimes the basic driver installed by Windows doesn’t show all options.

  • Choose your OS version.
  • Download and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers.
  • Restart your PC and try printing again.

3. Use HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart App.
  • Go to Print > Settings > Color Options.
  • You may find more flexible color controls here.

 I hope this helps.

Thank you Vikram. With Factory Defaults or General printing selected and greyscale "off" the colour options do not appear.

I have installed the package option that says:

Installation Software and Full/Basic Driver-Supports print and scan functionality only (1)

This does not give me any coloour options. They are still missing. Is there anything else I can try.?

Kind regards

Thank you very much Vikram. I appreciate all your time and help. Sorry, but I prefer not to use the private messages system on HP forums.

After doing a lot of research on the internet, my final conclusion is that HP did not include any colour controls for this printer on Windows 11. It's a shame because it severly affects its functionality as a photo printer.  I hope that in the future HP will update the driver to include the colour controls.

Thank you again for all your help.

Kind regards

Chris

Hi @Chris_N1,

I really appreciate your time and feedback. I completely understand your concern regarding the lack of color controls in the Windows 11 driver and how it impacts photo printing.

At present, the driver options available are the ones supported by the operating system, and additional features such as advanced color controls may not always be included. Your feedback is very valuable, and we will forward it to the relevant HP team for consideration in future updates. If any enhancements are released, they will be made available automatically through HP Support Assistant or Windows Update.

Thank you again for your patience and for sharing your findings with the Community.

Take care and have an amazing day!
