Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I am unable to use my printer. When I plug it in with the USB to my Mac, it states, "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." I am a Mac User and I have tried multiple options. It is not working. I do not own a PC.

Hi,

HP Smart Install cannot be disabled from a Mac, only from a Windows PC.

 

You will need to temporarly plug the printer to a Windows PC (e.g. get a laptop from a friend or family), then download and run the HP Smart Install Control Utility to disable HP Smart Install for the printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL53550/lj-129224-1/LJP1100_P1560_P1600_SI_Utility.exe

 

Once the feature is disabled reconnect the printer to your Mac.
