Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi,

it used to be that I had a hyperlink in on the Start list that opened the status of the printer, for example "See what is printing."

Very handy and user friendly. But for to me unknown reasons now it calls up this online page:

http://192.168.178.21/#hId-pgDevServ

There I see the option Scanning but not for Printing.

I can still print directly from my HP Elitebook 850 G1, but not Double-sided. Which I would like to do to save paper and for letters.

Anyone know how to get to the Double-sided printing mode for that printer?

@LodeHere, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding double sided printing!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To enable double-sided (duplex) printing on your HP Envy 5540 from your HP Elitebook 850 G1, follow these steps:

Open Printer Properties:

  • Click on the Windows Start menu and go to "Devices and Printers".
  • Find your HP Envy 5540 in the list of printers, right-click it, and select "Printing preferences".

Set Up Double-Sided Printing:

  • In the printing preferences window, navigate to the "Print on Both Sides" or "Duplex Printing" option.
  • Select the "Automatic" or "Manual" option depending on your printer's capability.

Save the Settings:

  • Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save these settings for future print jobs.

Print Your Document:

  • Open the document you want to print and navigate to the print menu (usually found under "File" > "Print").
  • Ensure that the double-sided printing option is selected before you print.

If you still encounter issues with the double-sided printing, checking the printer’s embedded web server might provide additional options. The link you provided (http://192.168.178.21/#hId-pgDevServ) shows the printer's web interface which typically lists various printer settings, including printing options.

Viewing Printer Status and Job Queue

Previously, you could check the status of the printer or see what's printing directly through a shortcut. If this functionality has changed, you can try the following approach:

Via Printer and Scanners in Windows:

  • Open the Windows Start menu and go to "Devices and Printers".
  • Right-click on your HP Envy 5540 and select "See what's printing".
  • This will open the print queue for your printer, where you can manage and view pending print jobs.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you very much! That worked. Now I have double-sided printing set, and see again what is printing.
