HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer

I am completely demoralised. I have installed everything that HP wants me to install but nothing works.

All I want is for my printer to scan and email a document.

Printer says my email account details are incorrect.

Tried to reset email, can't find it on the menu.

Went to the SmartHP app, cant load account details.

App cant even detect my printer.

So my printer only prints now...nothing else......in the year 2024

Hi @BadPrinter222,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry you're having such trouble with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010! Let's try to get things sorted out. From what you’ve described, it sounds like there may be issues with both the printer’s email settings and the HP Smart app’s ability to connect with your printer.

Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot this:

Ensure Printer is Connected to the Internet:

  • Double-check that the printer is properly connected to WiFi. You can print a network configuration page from the printer to confirm this:
    • On the printer control panel, swipe down from the top of the screen to access the dashboard, then select Network Information.
    • Look for the status (should say “Connected”) and note the IP address.

Restart Printer and Router:

  • Turn off your printer and unplug your router for 30 seconds.
  • Plug your router back in and turn on the printer after the internet is restored.

Update Firmware on the Printer:

  • Sometimes, outdated firmware causes these issues. You can update the firmware directly from the printer or via the HP Smart app (when it’s working):
    • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

Reset Web Services and Email Setup:

  • Web Services handle scan-to-email, so resetting them might help:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > HP Web Services > Remove Web Services.
    • After removing, re-enable Web Services by going to Setup > HP Web Services > Enable Web Services.
    • You should be prompted to go through the email setup again.

Scan-to-Email Setup:

  • If it asks for your email account details, try using a different email or verify your current email settings on a computer (ensure that the email and password are entered correctly, and that two-factor authentication is either disabled or properly configured for printer use).
  • Gmail and Outlook often need an App Password if 2FA is enabled. You can generate this password via your email provider’s settings.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Since the app can't detect your printer, try uninstalling and reinstalling it:
    • Download the latest version from HP Smart on your PC or mobile device.
    • Ensure the printer and your device are on the same network.

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • If the Smart App still doesn’t detect your printer, try accessing the printer’s settings through your web browser using its IP address.
    • Open a browser and type your printer's IP address in the address bar.
    • You should now be able to access the Email Setup section from the EWS and manually configure the email.

Scan Using HP Smart App (Once Connected):

  • Once the printer is detected by HP Smart, use the Scan function in the app to scan directly to email or save it to your computer first and then send it manually.

If all else fails, performing a factory reset on your printer might help restore functionality. But try the above steps first before resorting to that.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
