I have a HP OfficeJet 3830 printer that replies to the following default community string "public" but cannot see where I can either change the community string name, or disable SNMP all together. Is this possible?

@UTN, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
To assist you better, what is the issue with the printer?
Is the printer connected to a home network?
The printer may not work on a guest/public network.
There is no option available on the printer to disable SNMP.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the reply. I have two printers that are showing up on a vulnerability scan and our security group wants SNMP either turned off, or for us to change the community name to something other than public. I told them we cannot turn SNMP off so they have asked to change the community name. Is that possible?

Is the printer connected to a home network?
What do you mean by the community name? There is no such thing on the printer.
Are you able to print and scan fine?
You have to make sure the printer is connected to a secure network. The printer can be accessed by devices that are on the same network.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.

No, it is connected to a work network.
There is such a thing on a printer. https://techhub.hpe.com/eginfolib/networking/docs/switches/K-KA-KB/15-18/5998-8160_ssw_mcg/content/c... Just seems that this printer doesn't support it even though the printer will respond to the default community string "public" on udp port 161. That is a problem that the developers should resolve in future firmware.
Yes can print and scan just fine. Just trying to resolve CVE-1999-0517
I don't think there is anything else you can do for me. Thank you for the response.
